First “Gas” Station in US to go 100% EV Charging

A gas station in the Silver Spring, MD, area, just outside Washington, DC, has become the first in the nation to transition completely from a petroleum fueling station to exclusively charging electric vehicles.

The owner of the station, which has operated in that location since 1958, made the decision to convert to EV charging mainly as a smart business move. He has been unhappy for some time with the way oil and gas companies structure contracts, which has hampered his business operations.

He said he’s not worried about how the switch will affect his business income. There are currently over 20,700 registered EV’s in Maryland. There is also an electric taxi service in the area that is in need of more charging options for their business.

This is clearly just the beginning. Electric cars are coming – FAST!
